An inadvertent expatriate blogger behind Kind Meadow Home

Hi there, I'm Maria
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. I'm an expatriate based in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Portugal wasn’t in our long-term plans. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The initial months were demanding — learning new systems, adjusting to new routines, managing new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Kind Meadow Home
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from everyday life in Portugal.
What This Website Is For (And Not For)
This site is:
- Hands-on knowledge from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there are meaningful changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal continues, and the learning journey goes on. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Maria
